FAQ's

What kind of study can I do on a student visa in New Zealand?
You can study full-time at school level or at a university, polytechnic or institute of technology. The range of courses and secondary qualifications is as comprehensive as those available anywhere in the world. Some students come to New Zealand to do their whole undergraduate degree. Some come as undergraduates for a semester or two for a fresh, new environment while enrolled in study in their home country – sometimes referred to as an “exchange student”. Others come here as recent college grads for post-graduate study and an overseas experience before embarking on their career.
How long can I stay in New Zealand?
A student visa may be granted for the length of the course you’re studying, up to a maximum of 5 years.
Are the semesters the same in New Zealand as elsewhere?
New Zealand is in the southern hemisphere, so the summer break takes place over December and January.
How can New Zealand qualifications be compared to those in my country?
A degree or post-graduate qualification from a New Zealand university, polytechnic or institute of technology will generally be recognized and valued anywhere in the world. If you’re only doing part of a course in New Zealand, you can often cross-credit your studies – check with your home university.
How much does it cost?
University fees in New Zealand are generally lower than private university fees in the US, and are the same as public university fees. For example, fees for a full first year Bachelor of Commerce course at a leading New Zealand university will be around NZ$25,000 (Approx US$17,000). You’ll also need to arrange for living and travel expenses. And if you are an exchange student, you may be paying the same tuition fees as your home institution – it depends on the exchange programme.
What is the minimum age of students for acceptance in Cyprus?
Cyprus Colleges accepts all applicants above 17 who have completed 12 years schooling (Senior School).
What will happen if my English proficiency is not up to the standards of the college?
All students, on arriving at the college, must take the College English Placement Test at the time of the enrolment, unless they have English language qualifications acceptable by the college. Students who do not meet the criteria of the College will be required to take English language courses before the start of their programs of study.
What are the accommodation and living costs in Cyprus?
The cost of accommodation depends on the type of apartment (flat), which the students will decide to rent, and the number of students sharing. The living cost depends on the lifestyle of each student. From our experience, we know that students who share an apartment and cook their own meals spend about Euro ¬ 300 per month.
Who will arrange the accommodation for me?
The college will provide accommodation for you based on your needs. This can be arranged when you come to Cyprus. If you wish to arrange accommodation before you arrive in Cyprus, you must send in advance for eight months accommodation.
What is the climate in Cyprus?
Cyprus enjoys a wonderful Mediterranean climate, with long dry summers from mid-May to mid-October and mild winters from November to February. Mean temperature is 35 C (96 F) during summer and 8 C (42 F) during winter. Due to the marvelous climate and variety of scenery, the island offers endless opportunities for nature
