Australia’s international enrolments for 2025 have been set at 270,000

This cap on new international student commencements is set at the national planning level, with differentiation made between the higher education and VET sectors

It is forecasted that 145000 new international student commencements will be received by publicly funded universities next year (2025) which will be on par with 2023. Just under 30,000 commencements will be assigned to private universities and other non-university higher education providers as was the case in 2019

VET providers will be allowed a limit of 95000 new international student commencements. To minimize this, the government states that providers that have taken more international students will receive less to make the providers reduce on international students

However, this development will not impact those students, especially those taking independent English language courses, whose prospects are bright for that line of business
