What are the updates to the SOP requirements?

In the latest updates from the Australian Government's Department of Home Affairs, significant changes have been made to the GTE requirement. Effective March 23, 2024, the GTE requirement has been rebranded as Genuine Student (GS). This change reflects the emphasis on ensuring that students genuinely intend to pursue their studies in Australia.

Although they have changed the requirements in the GS and have change the name from GTE to GS requirement but there is not much significant change that they have made. They have given a definite direction toward they are expecting in the student’s profile as they give much importance to every student profile their main attempt is to ensure any sort of negligence that could change a student’s life.

In this process you need to fill online student visa application form and the following questions address in the GS criteria:

  • The student must explain his ties to his family, employment, Community and his economic circumstances in his home country. Giving details of the mentioned areas is necessary in order to provide clarity.
  • The student must justify his intention to study his chosen course with adequate and valid reason to choose a particular University/ College. The content should reflect on the student’s understanding of the requirement of his chosen course, benefits associated of studying his chosen discipline and living and studying in Australia.
  • You must justify how completing this course is going to benefit your future aspirations.
  • Provide any relevant information that you would like to include.

All the above mentioned situations must be answered in maximum of 150 words per question.

  • All evidence of your education done
  • Name of educational institutions

  • Reasons to change educational institution
  • Any other information which is relevant to the profile

The GS is accessed in order to proof check the if the student’s profile is genuine or not. The following parameters will be considered to analyze the same:

  • immigration history
  • circumstances
  • Alignment of the student profile with the visa conditions and any other relevant information which the students find necessary to be included.
